Adding and Removing Managers

What a Manager Can Do

Edit the listing. That is the whole permission, and it covers everything a player reads: the name, the address, the description, the gamemodes, the regions and the images.

What a Manager Cannot Do

  • Transfer the listing to somebody else
  • Delete it
  • Add or remove other managers
  • Create or revoke API keys

Everything that changes who controls the listing stays with the owner. A manager helps run the listing rather than sharing ownership of it, and whoever owns it stays answerable for what is on it.

What They Need

An account here with two-factor sign-in turned on, the same requirement a new owner has. Somebody who can edit your listing can point it at a different server, so the account doing it has to be hard to take over.

The picker searches LecternMC usernames, not gamertags. Ask what they are called on the site rather than guessing from the name they play under, and somebody without two-factor shows up greyed out with the reason rather than not appearing at all.

Adding One

  • Step 1. Open the listing and go to its settings
  • Step 2. Press Add a manager
  • Step 3. Search for them and pick them from the list
  • Step 4. Enter a code from your own authenticator
  • Step 5. Hold the confirm button until it finishes

Your own two-factor code is asked for because handing somebody edit access to your listing is worth confirming properly. It is the same check a transfer asks for, with a shorter hold on the button, because this one can be undone.

Removing One

From the same place, and it takes effect immediately. There is no confirmation step and no code, because removing access is the safe direction to get wrong.

Anything they changed while they were a manager stays changed. Removing somebody stops them editing from that moment, it does not undo their edits.

Managers and Transfers

If you transfer the listing to somebody who was already a manager, their manager entry is cleared out, because the new owner does not need to be a manager of their own listing.

Transferring does not remove your other managers. If you are handing the server over to somebody else entirely, it is worth going through the list first rather than leaving your old team with edit access to a listing that is no longer yours.
