Editing a Listing

Who Can Edit

The owner, and anybody the owner added as a manager. Everything else about a listing stays with the owner alone, so a manager can change what the listing says and cannot transfer it, delete it, or add another manager.

What You Can Change

Effectively everything a player reads. The name, the address and port, the tagline, the description, the gamemodes, the regions, the links and the images are all yours to change whenever you like.

Changes are live as soon as you save. There is no review step and nothing goes back into a queue.

Renaming Does Not Change the Address

The web address of your listing is set when it is first submitted and it stays put through every rename afterwards. A server called something new keeps the page people have already linked to and search engines have already found.

That is deliberate. A permalink that followed the name would break every link to your listing each time you rebranded, and rebranding is exactly when you least want that.

If the mismatch between an old address and a new name bothers you, tell us. It is not something the edit form can do, because handing owners a way to break their own links is not a feature.

Moving the Server

Change the address and port on the listing at the same time the server moves. The status on your page comes from pinging whatever the listing says, so an address left pointing at the old host will show as offline even while the server is fine.

One address belongs to one listing. If the new address is already claimed by somebody else's listing, the save is refused rather than quietly creating a duplicate.

What You Will Not Find in the Form

  • Whether the listing is verified
  • Featured placement
  • The listing's status, meaning whether it is live or delisted

Those three are set here rather than by owners, because a mark an owner could give themselves would tell a reader nothing. What Verified Means covers the first two.

Keeping It Accurate

Editing is the cheap way to avoid the expensive problem. Gamemodes that quietly stopped running and an address that moved are the two commonest reasons a listing gets removed, and both are a two minute fix while they are still your choice to make.
