Player data, which is the gamertag, the Xbox ID and the skin behind a player profile. That exists whether or not the player ever made an account here, and it is a separate thing from what we hold about an account.

How Long It Stays
There is no expiry date. A profile stays until somebody asks for it to go, and asking is the only thing that removes one.
We have looked at trimming records nobody has ever opened and have not done it.
Most Profiles Are Not in Search Engines
Roughly 98.7 percent of player profiles tell search engines not to index them. A page carrying nothing but a name and a date is not worth a search engine's attention.
That does not make a profile private, because anybody with the address can still open it. It means a profile is unlikely to be what somebody finds when they search your gamertag on the open web.

Removal Is Permanent
When a profile is removed, the page and everything recorded against it are deleted. What stays is a one-way fingerprint of the Xbox ID, so a server reporting that player later is recognised and ignored.
The fingerprint cannot be turned back into a gamertag or read as a list of who asked to be removed. It only answers one question, which is whether this particular Xbox ID has asked to be left alone.
That is also why removal cannot be undone. There is nothing kept to restore, by design.
Server Logs
Ordinary web server logs are kept for about 30 days and then go. They are there for working out why something broke, not for tracking anybody.
Asking for a Removal
If you can prove the gamertag is yours by linking your Xbox account, it is self-service and immediate. Removing a Player Profile has the steps.
If you cannot link it, contact us and we will do it by hand. A parent asking about a child does not need an account and does not need to prove anything to us.
