What Add Server Does
Every listing has an Add server button, and pressing it opens a small window with three ways in. Two of them hand you straight to Minecraft, and the third gives you the address to type in yourself.
The two handoffs look alike but they do different things. Add to Minecraft saves the server to your Servers tab so it's waiting for you tomorrow, and Connect without adding takes you into the server once and leaves your list alone.
Neither button changes anything about the server or your account. They're both shortcuts for the same address shown in that window.
Adding a Server to Your Servers Tab
Use this one for a server you expect to come back to.
- Step 1. Open the listing and press Add server
- Step 2. Press Add to Minecraft
- Step 3. Your device will ask whether to open Minecraft, so allow it
- Step 4. The server appears at the bottom of your Servers tab, already named
The name comes from the listing, so it matches what you saw on the site. You can rename it in game afterwards and nothing breaks.
Connecting to the server without adding will directly connect you to the server without saving it to your custom servers list.
When the Game Doesn't Open
Both buttons work by handing a link to Minecraft, and not every device is set up to accept one. We wait a couple of seconds and tell you if nothing picked it up.
When that happens, press Copy address in the same window and add the server by hand. The steps are in Adding a Server in Minecraft Bedrock.
If You Still Can't Get In
A listing showing as online means the server answered our ping, not that it will let you in. It can be full, whitelisted, in maintenance, or running a version your game isn't.
If the listing shows offline, the address didn't answer at all, and there's nothing on your end to fix.
